Current State Of The Union

Do you ever see a cute boy and you're like hot dang how did I ever continue living my existence without seeing you everyday?! And then you realize oh shoot I gotta get a move on things because two is better than one and also summer is so much more fun with a crush to go on night adventures with and lay out all day with and just to be with. Just a little food for thought.
In:
-hugging boys taller than you and also boys that stress cute like oh shoot
-pomskis
-BEING A LOYAL FRIEND
-cowboy hats, beards, and strappy backpacks

Out:
-USING FANCY VOCABULARY TO MAKE YOU SOUND COOL WELL GUESS WHAT THE COMMON PEOPLE CANT UNDERSTAND YOU
-being fake to make people think you like them because guess what, being fake to someone is not helping their situation or yours
-cute selfies because ugly ones are more fun
-doing homework (yet passing math is so so so in)

Project Kiss Before Graduation

We all have that one person, that has "it." That one person we just wanna kiss so good and hard and odds are you probably are never going to see that "it" person after graduation, so what better time to give it your all (while not being vulnerable please and thanks) and kiss that person than at graduation. Honestly, what have you got to loose. Now although I am the last person on this very pretty planet to ever give advice one should heed to, I have some thoughts on Do's and Don'ts for grad night kisses.
Do not kiss someone you legitimately want to date: Take this from homegirl here- surprise kisses are GREAT for a crush. Like just go up to someone and BAM plant one on them and run, its exhilarating and fun and flirty, but do not do that to someone you actually want to have a real shot with. For one, that person will see you as a "hit it and quit it" and also you will feel extremely embarrassed the next time you see them, so embarrassed that you won't even try to go in for that second kiss.
Do not kiss an ex: "We are just friends" "They won't think anything of it" "It was just a hookup" Guess what! Kissing is kind of a cool thing but it sucks in the way that it sparks emotion, so kissing an ex will either open the floodgates for you or for their emotions and no one wants to go back to a broken toy :///
Do not kiss someone who is dating someone: Too bad if your "it" person is taken, they aren't going to be dating them for forever and when they break up if they are still your "it" person then maybe a surprise graduation night kiss is not the right thing because they probably fall under the first issue, plus they are dating that person for a reason and aren't dating you for a reason so.
---
Do kiss wisely: Please for all that is good in the world do not kiss someone that will ruin a friendship because guess what we all need friends in this world and this world would permanently suck without homies.
Do kiss and make it memorable: If you're gonna surprise kiss someone, you gotta do it with a bang. Like make a gesture out of it or I don't know- just get creative with it so you have a good story to come out of that moment.
Do kiss with good breathe: Self explanatory.

Not a Metaphor

Real Talk
A broken heart is not a metaphor hahah a broken heart is a physical feeling where you can feel your own body tearing apart. You feel yourself sinking, your body shuts down and want to feel no emotion. Because feeling numb is entirely better than hurting, and hurting and feeling the lowest of lows is so much more painful than the joy of the highest of highs. Feeling nothing would be awesome. You would be blessed. Yes you can claim that letting yourself be vulnerable let's you connect with someone more, but letting yourself be vulnerable is bull crap hahah. Letting yourself be vulnerable lets yourself feel hurt and pain and feel like you are less than the scum on the very bottom of this earth!!! Letting yourself be vulnerable hurts and no one likes being hurt. Ok cool trust someone entirely and give it your all and invest your full heart, but guess what people leave and it sucks. And it always hurts someone more and leaves a deeper cut. And sometimes those cuts heal into beautiful scars, but also sometimes those cuts don't heal and serve as a warning to not let yourself succumb to your emotions, because no one is watching out for our feelings so someone has got to do the dirty work here.

-but you're a waste of time and energy and feelings
-"Kenzie you failed your math test"
"Yeah but I looked good doing it"
"Kenzie you literally got a 22%"
"22% failure 100% looking fresh as hell thank you"
-humor is attractive
-smiles are attractive
-effort is attractive
-caring is attractive
-it's ok to have feelings they just make everything harder and suck a whole lot

Current State of the Union

Lisi Harrison, do you know what you started? Your series "The Clique" sparked my interest in fashion, it made me want to read and more than anything it made me crave to be Massie Block. Massie Block is and forever will be queen in my book. Ok yes, she was a total brat and once paid a group of actresses to be her friends and follow her around, but every part of me still wanted to be her. In this little world of privileged preteens that Harrison created I was able to partake into a bit of that Massie-nastiness. I would create fantasies where a girl would be sassy to me-which, back then being sassy was having a crush on my crush- where I would say "(insert name) did I invite you to my BBQ? No? Then why are you all up in my grill?" As devilish as she was, Massie was fabulous and fun and everyone wanted to be her, even her readers.
Every night before bed, Massie would create a little "Current State of the Union" where she would provide what is "in" and "out." Often times her nemesis character, Claire, was on the out list, while things like "lip kissing Derrington" was on the "in" section. *Side note* One night my Papa and I were reading different books next to each other and I came across the line that reads "lip kissing Derrington" and my eyes bugged out and I tried to read as fast as my little eyes would hoping my papa would NOT look over and see that I, his precious little grand baby, was reading about something as uncomfortable and awesome as lip kissing. Much to my dismay, his eyes glanced over and I cringed as he read that line aloud and chuckled to himself. I was mortified, but it was also really funny of him so I got over it fast (which is not very Massie of me.) Anyway, she would make this list and say what was in and out according to her world and according to who and what made her blood boil. So, in a weak attempt to bring out my inner Massie, let's kick off the resurrection of the Current State of the Union.
In:
-Lip kissing
-Sending out graduation announcements to people you probably will not even pretend to know if you see them 3 days after graduation
-Trying my darnedest hardest to be nice to everyone because guess what I only have to pretend that for T minus two weeks
-Blocking people on twitter
Out:
-Remembering a funny memory and wanting to tell the person you shared it with, but because of certain circumstances you indeed cannot share that funny moment
-Boys under 5"10 :-///
-Breaking up with someone because "missionaries can't have girlfriends"
-Bandeaus (Try a bralette, we sell them at Nordstrom both Free People and BP brand)

Thoughts That Came Into My Head

-Reality's gonna hit you in the head and the heart real hard and it's gonna hurt real bad
-I don't want you but I don't want you to be with anyone else
-All I'm asking for is someone to laugh at embarrassing moments with me and show me cute pictures of elephants
-It would be cool if deleting someone's number would delete them from your life
-I don't want you back but and I don't miss you but I miss how things were
-Tri fold grad accouncments are like "oh here's me and here's me again  and oh me one more time!"
-I wonder what it's like to be the ugly sister
-I hope all of those who peaked in highschool figure things out fast
-10 more days of real school aka 10 more days of pretending I like you all :-)

Let's Be Real

You know those days where you just feel flat out ugly. Like your outfit makes you look chunky, your hair is wack, and you feel like you are annoying every living creature that you come in contact with? Well, folks, Ive been there and know that feeling all too well. So sometimes, if you're feeling a bit blue, you can mope about it and wallow under your covers or you can read the quote "im prada youre nada" and there is a 99% chance you will feel cured of those blues.
